Oktoberfest 2013

O'zapft! It's the time of year where all of Germany and various other countries celebrate the biggest Bayern tradition - Oktoberfest. The 16 day celebration is mainly celebrated in Munich but with Germans, Oktoberfest is everywhere! I took advantage of the occasion and wore a traditional german Drindl.

I must say, the store I went to had so many different choices in colors and styles that made it so difficult to choose one.

After trying on so many Drindls, I finally choose a cobalt blue. I have to admit though, I didn't want to take it off!! It's so comfortable and the A-line skirt just wants to make you dance in it all night long. Just very quickly I'm going to explain the Drindl. It's a 3-piece outfit. You have the blouse with the puffy sleeves, dress, and apron. There are also so many other accessories you could add on like a necklace, long socks, and things for your hair. The men wear wear Lederhosen and must say, the guys look great in them! I've seen a couple of men during lunch time, at central station, wearing their Lederhosen and just enjoying a beer.

Day 1 of Oktoberfest, I went with a group of friends from school to HofbrÀuhaus Hamburg for dinner and obviously the world wide famous Oktoberfest beer, in a stein of course. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it to Munich for the huge celebration but it was a great time regardless.

I think the best part of Oktoberfest is the unity that brings everyone together. You could be at your table at the beginning of the night and you end up talking, dancing, having drinks with complete strangers! Everyone is just out to have a good time!

Some of the pictures were taken by my friends on their cellphone, therefore better quality ( I'm using an iPod).

Happy Oktoberfest, Prost!
