I'm so excited to share details from the lovely city of Prague, finally. This trip was kind of spontaneous with a friend of mine,P, from school. She suggested she wanted to go and of course I said yes, but we actually never really had the time to plan it.. at all. Usually in your home country, you'll be fine without the planning. We have the use of GPS, cellphones, internet, contacts, etc,. Basically anything and everything! On my Road Trip to Nashville (that was decided that day to go), we booked a hotel over the phone, on our way to Nashville. Anyway, when you're in an unknown city with a language you have no previous knowledge to, was rather difficult.
We took about a 7-8 hour train ride to Prague and our fun filled adventure began! First, I want to mention, if you have the chance to travel anywhere by train, DO IT! Chances are, 70% of the people around you will end up at the same destination as you. Plus, you have a beautiful view out the window. My friend and I pretty much slept the entire ride there (up since 5am), but I did wake up after making a quick stop in Dresden. I was amazed by its natural beauty. The next time I return to Germany, Dresden will be at the top of my list!
Prague, right! So once we arrived at the central station in Prague, we met P's friend who is studying french in France. We exchanged currency since the Czech Republic uses the Czech Koruna. Before I continue on, I want to start by saying how important it is to at least research the city you will be staying(probably should had taken my advice back then) because you will find out pretty interesting things. Such things like ONLY EXCHANGE CURRENCY IN OFFICIAL BANKS, IN PUBLIC PLACES!!
Yes, P and I were one of the tourist who fell into a scams trap. On the bright side, we weren't hurt and although we had a rough start, we enjoyed our trip. It's Prague, how can you not have fun?!
A friend of mine had a connection in Prague who gave us the loveliest stay in Prague at Hotel PurPur. Daily breakfast was included and it was awesome that Wi-Fi was available (great opportunity to share pictures). A plus, it's minutes from the city center by foot. I recommend checking it out if you're ever in Prague!
Not only was the hotel within minutes from the city center, everything else was too. Prague is small enough to go by foot to all the attractions, nightclubs, restaurants, and shops. We made the mistake of purchasing a transportation ticket for the weekend which was 395 korunas and we used it twice. Not worth it at all!
Friday and Saturday were both tour days for us. We walked around the town and visited attractions, monuments, and also learned so much from its history. I was so touched by its rich history and especially during the war years.
From all the history talk, I will always remember two tales. The first one took place in the St. James church. When you walk into the church, on the right hand side, hanging from the wall, up high, you will see a human hand. Yes, I said a human hand! It's said, a thief tried stealing possessions of the church. When caught, they wanted to make sure he won't ever do it again and they cut his hand off. Yikes!! So to date, the hand still hangs off the wall to remind their visitors not to steal or else...

The second tale is just as scary, I think. In the past, many men were thrown out of the window for upsetting others. Crazy! Our tour guide joked and said, "if you're speaking to a Czech, make sure you're no where near a window!" It's a good thing some things are part of the past and moved on to newer and better ways to resolve disputes.
I most admired Prague for its romantic and gothic feel of architecture. It's stunning! I loved walking around Prague. There's absolutely no way you can be bored there. I had a perception of Prague being a huge party scene which, is true after 11pm.
Prague around dinner time becomes the most romantic place to be. It probably had something to do with the millions of couples around but also the artists set the mood. The city center is filled with tourists at this time. Our first night, we heard a guy with his guitar playing the pop songs I haven't heard in years! One thing you'll notice while walking around Prague are the singers. They are everywhere but one thing, their voices, are natural talent. I remember walking to the shopping center and hearing an opera song. To my surprise, it was a 13 year old boy! His voice can't even be described by words. I told the girls if we could listen to him for a while because it was so beautiful to just walk past him. I will confess, he did bring a tear to my eye. Hopefully a talent scout finds him soon!
We also did the Prague Pub Crawl which was AMAZING! This is a greatest way to meet people. The girls and I met Spanish people living in Munich learning German. You meet great people from all over! Shoutout to a great pal M, from Mexico. Cool guy who's been traveling around Europe for over a year! Never stop exploring bud!
Anyway, we ended that pub crawl at Karlovy Lazně, Europe's biggest music club in central Europe. I think this had to be my favorite club. It has 5 floors with 5 different music genres playing. No matter what kind of a mood you're in, you'll find your dancefloor there. I definitely found mine on the floor of disco- haha!

On our last day we made it a priority to do our final walk around Prague and visit the John Lennon Wall. It's so great to see the artwork. The wall represents freedom, peace, and love for one another. It's filled with Lennons portrait, Beatles lyrics, and graffiti.

It's a beautiful city and no wonder it's on the top of everyone's list to visit.
with love,
