Bavaria. Good o'l southern Germany. There isn't one thing I don't like about the south. Stuttgart, my favorite city, is in the south too! What a coincidence :)
Southern Germany has so much to offer. The food, the people, warmer weather than the north, and most importantly the true Bavarian roots- BEER!
There is absolutely no way I can travel to Europe without visiting the south (my German family would probably be upset too). As much as I love being in the big city, I am absolutely stunned by the breathtaking views of nature.
While in Stuttgart, my cousins took me to Hohenschwangau, Germany to visit the world famous Schloss Neuschwanstein. In English it translates as the New Swan Stone Castle. They say the King of Bavaria, at the time, Ludwig II was crazy and had gone mad. I think the most interesting of it all is his death. Just like any mysterious tale, no one really knows how he died. They just found his body in the near by lake.
I can't even imagine living in the castle surrounded by such views. I wouldn't know what to do more of, hanging out at the place or out exploring the land. I think for sure I would at least have to have a horse to explore the land for sure.
Getting to the top by the castle was a journey. We walked, took a 5 minute bus ride and then walked another 10 minutes. After catching your breath, you're almost taken back in time. The presence of the castle and views of the land almost made me feel as if I were in the past.
I would definitely recommend visiting if you're in the area. We didn't visit the inside of the castle because we took my cousins dog along but I'm sure like all the castles I've been to, beautiful rooms, decorations, and the most exquisite paintings.
Oh, before I forget! I don't remember the name, but there's a food stand next to a restaurant that sells the best wurst EVER! Don't forget to say, "ein mal Bier, bitte!"
