Switzerland- the country with four official languages: German, Italian, French, and Romansh. Talk about multicultural! Switzerland also has the finer things such as cheese, chocolate, and pocket knives. What a great combination. I will say, the chocolate really is to die for- yum!
My cousins, their friends, and I left Stuttgart quite early to make our to Switzerland. The drive wasn't long but we had a breakfast-picnic in Tengen, Germany. It's as rural as a country can be, loved it! It reminded me of the country roads I used to drive to my university and the surrounding roads around my university too.
Anyway, we had a great view for breakfast and I was completely amazed by it. There was something about the fields that made me think of where I was- driving from Stuttgart to Switzerland! I'm sure I'm not the only one when I say this but, there are moments in our lives that make us ask ourselves, "how did I get here?" I for sure asked myself that the moment I stood by myself in front of acres and acres of beautiful land.
It's amazing how accessible it is to travel city to city or country to country within Europe. Something that makes any vacation enjoyable to the max. That's why Switzerland was such an easy choice to make from Stuttgart.
Although we didn't do the typical Zurich trip, which I hope one day to visit, we went to visit the Rhine river. My cousin says, "It's the Niagara Falls of Europe, but it's no Niagara Falls". Which is true, it's no Niagara Falls, not even close but nonetheless, very nice to visit.
Like the Niagara Falls, the falls is split between two countries and in our case, it's Switzerland and Germany. Same goes with which side of the river has the best view, the native side, Switzerland.
Later, we headed back to Stuttgart and had a late lunch at Onkel Otto- Das XXL Schnitzelparadies. Before dining here you must follow the next two rules: 1. you must love Schnitzel and 2. you must be very, very, hungry! The extra, extra large Schnitzel paradise diner hands down, has the best Schnitzel I've had in Germany! If only the picture could do it's justice of how XXL it was. I think the plate can be eaten by two people. I can almost taste it just by thinking about it but, I can also remember how full I felt and could hardly walk leaving the restaurant. Food coma!!
Next time I have the chance to visit Switzerland I hope to visit Jungfraujoch in Zurich and St. Moritz. It's a given Zurich is a must in Switzerland and I've heard St. Moritz is the winter wonderland of Europe. If it's true, I hope someone will be able to accompany me on that adventure. The hopeless romantic in me..
